What's up my peculiar treasures??! So I recently read my best friend's most recent blog post and it hit home for me and Hannah I wanted you to know that. I understand that in so many ways. So many times along this road, for anyone and everyone we find ourselves in many low places, feeling like we cannot get out of this place but Jesus, He is our rescuer, He saves, He redeems, and He sets us free, we will forever be freed from the chains of doubt and sin. We are made fearless with Him and can we just take a moment to marvel at His amazingness? (I made a new word guys *insert 10 million laughing emojis*) I mean lets be real here folks what Hannah is telling us is true. If you have not read it please go read her post, be encouraged, marvel at God's amazing grace in our lives, and how precious your life is to Him and those around you that love you so very much. He has created you for a predestined purpose and you are NOT a mistake no matter the lies that the devil fills your

Worth, Purpose, and Cake.

Hey, there, peculiar treasures! This blog post gets a little deep, but it is so worth the read. Also: if you get to the end, I've included a little Christmas present for you guys! 😁 Merry Christmas! 🎄 Okay, let's just jump right into it: self-worth . Two words (or one word hyphenated) however you choose to look at it, we all know what I'm talking about here. Let me say it again louder for the people in the back: self-worth . We all struggle with it, some of us more than others--personally, I happen to be one of the "more than others." All my life I've always had a problem with self-worth (and just feeling worthy of anything in general) but especially when it comes to my faith. Because I'm a sinner, I do not deserve grace {which, you know, is kinda the point of grace, it's unmerited favor}. But for some reason I've always struggled with not feeling worth anything, and definitely not worth the sacrifice that Christ made for all of us. All of my i

Merry Christmas!

From the beginning God had a purpose for mankind, the prophecies that set the stage for His Son to come to earth to bear the punishment and be the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. A Redeemer that would vanquish death and the devil's power over the grave.  Genesis 3:15 "And I will out enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel."  Isaiah 7:14, 9:6 "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel." "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."  The fulfillment of even just this prophecy has given us hope and joy for the future. A future we now can cling to in hope, knowing He has come, will come again and later restore the wor

The Relationship Talk

Last night I got inspired, and I recorded a ten-minute voice note about relationships. 😂 I decided to transpose it here for you guys so that you can hear my thoughts on this. I hope you enjoy, and please go into this understanding that I'm not trying to condemn anyone if they don't agree with me--I'm just saying my point of view. (Also, all Scripture that I reference will be written out at the end of this blog post. 💘 Love you guys, and hope you enjoy!) The Relationship Talk The other day I was reading this thing, and it was like, "Things That All Boyfriends Should Do for Their Girlfriends," and it had so many unrealistic expectations on it, I could hardly finish it. I was like . . . no. No, no, no. 😂 First of all, every relationship is different. There are different balances with different personalities and different compatibilities. (Of course there's always the Christian, Bible-focused baseline of that the man is the leader and the initiator in th

Dearest Lord,                                                                                                       Journal entry: 1/8/2016 Today You brought before my eyes an another analogy. So I was putting on my coat, and my mom took note that this was the coat that had holes on the inside (basically all underneath was all torn up--but I was still wearing it around and it served its purpose for a little while but then things got cold...). The outside I replied to my mom still looked in tact so I wore it and nobody would care (or take notice unless I showed them the holes specifically). It was like BAM! It hit me that hey, this is how a lot of people feel and live like. They live in this covering (that may appear together and in 'tact' so to speak) but underneath it or they are all torn up! People definitely aren't always what we make out or judge to be from the outside. I learned that you have to look closer to what is on the inside. You may find lots of wreckage and

You're Perfect(ly Imperfect)

Okay, listen. If you're fat, that's okay. If you're skinny, that's okay. You don't have to change a thing about yourself. You're beautiful. But if you are not happy with your body because you don't feel like you are embracing your full potential, then I fully support the use of healthy techniques in order to improve yourself. (In my opinion, the two best ways to feel better physically are exercise and diet. Mind, not diet ing , but diet. Eating right really does help you feel better--it's a scientific fact!) A healthy awareness of one's self is a good thing. But as soon as your self-worth, happiness, and basically any other word dealing with self-care--as soon as it becomes dependent on something other than God, that's when it becomes unhealthy. It doesn't matter what others think. The opinions of others--as well as what social media, magazines, and heck, even yourself are telling you--none of that matters. None of it . The only opini

A Note from Sarah

Hello Everyone!  My name is Sarah... the other peculiar treasure of this twosome, and I just wanted to say hi to all of our peeps out there, who actually want to come read all of the things we will be writing about! This is Hannah (left) and I (right) exploring nature last year in the picture below and having tons of fun with our friends. I think you could say it was kind of a God thing that we came to even know each other in the first place but let's just say that friends can have a huge impact on your life (spiritually and so forth!) so choose wisely. Believe me awesome friends are out there. Friends that will stand by your side and encourage you on this walk of faith. As believers it is crucial for each of us to be open with one another and honest about difficulties and the every day life that is a test. But believe it or not God blesses us with those peculiar treasures in our life that make the journey that much more fun, inspirational, and just flat out amazing. Not every da

18 Things I Learned in 2017

Hello there, peculiar treasures! It's me, Hannah, and today we're going to be diving into some deep stuff. Now, one thing you should know about me is that I love to make lists, and with the year 2017 coming to a close (as well as the year 2018 just around the corner!) I've decided to share with you a list of 18 Things I Learned in 2017--or rather, 18 Things That Would Be Good to Know for 2018. (Correction: I enjoy making lists, but I'm not the best at titling them! 😂) Without further ado: 18 Things I Learned in 2017 That Would Be Good to Know for 2018 There will be days when you feel pretty, and there will be days when you feel ugly. Savor the first, tolerate the second, but don't let the second make a home in you. No one has it all together. I repeat, NO ONE. Smiling really does make you feel better. & sometimes smiling is all you have. (P.S. A smile makes you look 10x friendlier & more beautiful.) Don't be afraid to try new things. Try a new

Welcome!

Hello there, and welcome to the Peculiar Treasures blog! This blog is run by two Christian young women who are just trying to be a light to this world as they figure out life one day at a time. Both of us (Sarah and Hannah) will be contributing blog posts, devotionals, photos, inspirational quotes, and much, much more! We're not pretending to be professionals here; we just hope that by sharing our ideas, we might inspire others in their daily walks with the Lord. 😊 And as for the name of our blog . . .   Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: || Exodus 19:5 KJV (emphasis added) As Christians, we are all God's peculiar treasures! We'd love to elaborate on that concept in the future, but for now, welcome to our blog, and may God bless you and your family! 😇 With love, Sarah & Hannah
